朝日新聞社とMPJは、6月1日から始まる第5回アフリカ開発会議（TICAD V）のサイドイベントとして、シンポジウム「アフリカの平和と発展、そして未来へ」を開催いたします。貧困削減を掲げたアフリカのミレニアム・ビレッジ・プロジェクトを実施する国連事務総長特別顧問(ミレニアム開発目標担当）で米コロンビア大学地球研究所長のジェフリー・サックス氏による基調講演をはじめ、アフリカで積極的に資源ビジネスとCSR活動を展開する三井物産社長の飯島彰己氏、アフリカにおける自衛隊のPKO活動等を視察している国際大学学長の北岡伸一を含めたパネルディスカッションを行います。アフリカ現状と日本とアフリカのパートナーシップの強化に向けて、第一線の討論となることを期待しています。皆さま、ぜひご参加ください！

MPJ and the Asahi Shimbun Company will host the symposium, “Ensuring a Brighter Future through Peace and Development in Africa” as the TICAD V (from 1st through 3rd June in Yokohama) Official Side Events. The theme of this symposium is peace and development for African countries, also key issues for TICAD V. Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University; Professor Shinichi Kitaoka, President of International University of Japan; and Mr. Masami Iijima, President and CEO of MITSUI &Co., LTD. will present their views and discussion.
This will be a great momentum for building a solid partnership between Japan and African Nations through the discussion of leading authorities on international relations, foreign affairs and business. We are looking forward to seeing you in the event!
